Understanding the pH balance of the food we eat and purchase is very important for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. TCM preaches of a balance of both yin and yang, and this theory practices a discipline in maintaining both in moderation. One cannot have too much acidic influences, as it can lead to and overload of toxicity, emotional stress, etc. And one cannot have too much alkaline influences, as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues and skin issues. The alkaline may overact on the "good" acidic components of the body, creating an overall disharmony. The practice of maintaining a rich and varied diet is important to living a healthy life.
