HIV/AIDS/TCM - Week 8 - Biology

PrEP treatment
TCM's effect on immune system

Western medical approaches to combat HIV/AIDS may be at it's most cunning point of scientific understanding, though I do believe that the industry is one that continues to push drugs as an alternative treatment plan. Whether it be to "suppress x" or "inhibit y", the treatments are designed to topple over each other to create the desired cure for a disease. There is no definite cure to post-contraction, but the latter option of maintaining a prevention-based protocol are what western medicine preaches. PrEP treatment plans can come off as highly effective, yet there are many side effects that weigh out as con's for patients.
It is our responsibility to recognize and acknowledge the context of HIV/AIDS with an open mindset in order to support a further developed treatment plan which helps people in feeling safe. The delineation of social acceptance and cowering shame are still very real barriers which may influence one to get proper care.

Traditional Chinese Medicine works in harmony with what the body already presents. Understanding of the body's present state serves as a road map on where to begin on the journey to healing the body to it's original balanced state. Tools such as acupuncture, herbal formulas, and traditional techniques such as cupping, are what fire the furnace in influencing the immune system to move back to balance.
The immune system is one of many which connects the whole of the body. There are just as many ways to cure the body as there are lists of certain acupuncture point treatments and herbal formulas which are used for specific pathologies. TCM's basic value of the state of qi, blood, yin, and yang of the body are what influence and affect the immune system, thus creating a harmonious cycle of fighting a disease or strengthening the body.
